Obituary

Denise Marie Gandee, 58, died peacefully at home on February 16th, 2010, after a seven-year battle with breast cancer. Born October 24, 1951, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she was the first child of Irvine and Mary Jo Gandee. She graduated from Tulsa Memorial High School in 1969, Oklahoma State University in 1973, and earned a Master's degree from Northeastern State University. She devoted the next 35 years to teaching in the Tulsa Public School system, first at Foster Junior High, then Ross Elementary, and finally at Lewis and Clark Middle School. She is survived by her beloved pets, Andy and Rudy; parents, Irvine and Mary Jo Gandee of Tulsa; brother, Tom, his wife Cheryl and son, Joseph of Naples, Italy; sister, Celia of Tulsa; and sister, Martha and her husband Steve Larry of Catoosa. Services will be held at 10 a.m., February 20, 2010, at Moore's Southlawn Chapel. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure or the cancer charity of your choice. Moore's Southlawn.
